Tyler is an actor, emcee, and performance artist based in NYC.

Tyler dedicates a steadfast commitment to character, collaboration, ensemble, and telling the story. His body of work spans film, television, theater, commercials, music videos, and live online performance. Born in Connecticut and raised in Florida, he trained at Interlochen Arts Academy with a concentration in theater performance, before receiving his BFA in Acting from Ithaca College. Raised by “many villages,” Tyler’s shifting landscapes have influenced his understanding of the human experience, and thus permeates, drives, and inspires his work.

In New York City, Tyler studied with Wynn Handman, has coached with Austin Pendelton, was a member at The Flea, and is a regular with Adrienne Weiss’s directing actors workshops. Tyler has performed in the New York International Fringe Festival, and is an embedded member of the downtown arts community, where he is a resident emcee for the bi-monthly Arts on Site performance parties.

Recent work includes new play development with the New York Theatre Workshop Fellowship Program, The Actors Studio Playwrights/Directors Unit, and The Hanger Theatre Wedge: Future Now Festival in partnership with the Drama League directing fellows.

Currently, Tyler is developing a series of short films which will be shot cross-country by train. He is also in the beginning stages of writing his first solo show.

“[In a show that] is the epitome of the challenges, and the triumphs, [we] have come to know, Tyler Gardella’s Felix takes the emotional reins, reminding the audience of all we’ve lost this year and the brave faces we don to keep going.”
